1. Work for God with a Trusting Spirit

Many years ago a farmer named Joseph went into town to find workers. He hired several men and sent them into his fields.

As the day progressed Joseph saw that he lacked enough men to finish before sundown. So he hired more workers. He did this several times during the day. At five o'clock in the afternoon he saw that the work was nearly finished, but not quite. Once more he hired more men. At six o'clock everyone rejoiced that they had finished the task, and with joy, Joseph paid all the men a full day's wages.

When we stewards reach the end of life's day, we'll also be rewarded alike. We'll all receive a place in God's heavenly kingdom.

Christ's Object Lessons, p. 397: "Not the amount of labor performed or its visible results but the spirit in which the work is done makes it of value with God. Those who came into the vineyard at the eleventh hour....never forgot the goodness of the house-holder or the generous compensation they had received. Thus it is with the sinner.... [H]e feels that he is undeserving of reward; but he is filled with joy that God has accepted him at all. He works with a humble, trusting spirit, thankful for the privilege of being a co-worker with Christ. This spirit God delights to honor."

And so we understand better the stewardship of working for God with a trusting spirit.
