31. Jesus, the Creator

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . Through him all things were made; . . . The Word became flesh and lived for a while among us. . . . the one and only Son, who came from the Father, . . ." John 1:1-14 (NIV) Jesus spoke "and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm." Ps. 33:9 (NIV) And then, when His people rebelled against Him, Jesus gave His own life to save us from our sins.

The idea that one God could create the universe is foreign to human logic. Since the rebellion, people have tried to recreate the Creator into a being they could understand. So humans divided God's power and wisdom into different segments, each in the control of a different "god." People created many gods because their minds could not fathom the idea that one God could do all these thingsAlone.

But Jesus is "the image of the invisible God, . . . . For by him all things were created: . . . He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Col. 1:15-17 (NIV)

God teaches us His creative power through the Sabbath. And He reveals His universal ownership through the tithe.
