*This book was largely a compilation of articles I wrote for the Pitcairn Miscellany (pronounced mis CELL uny). I had the book printed in 1984 not long after we returned and sold them mostly at lectures which we gave in many places. The book went through three printings and sold 1500 copies. I haven't reprinted it, though I've been asked a number of times to do so. Here is the full text, edited in order to update style and spelling. The Stories and information contained in this book are based on our experiences during 1982-1984, and are as true to fact as we can remember, and from documents written and collect during our term of service on the island. Although life on Pitcairn is still much the same today, many things have changed. Therefore this book should be viewed more as a historical record than as a description of life on the island today.
